    Hello from Toronto

I'm Jim Samuel. I've lived in The Beaches area of Toronto all of my 66 years.
I've been cooking with mixed success on the same inexpensive Broil King gas grill for 21 years but I will not MacGyver it for another season. It will not be replaced.
I also have a cheap 1988 Weber Bar-B-Kettle daisy wheeler, built for Sears Canada only. A neighbour gave it to me last year after it had sat, fully exposed to the elements, with the lid open since 1989. I cleaned it up and have used it a several times but have yet to master heat control with it. I only get to grill or BBQ 5 or 6 times a year so most things I learn are forgotten by the time I need them again.
I think I like the "idea" of grilling and barbecuing more than actually doing it. For now I'll just satisfy myself living vicariously through the rest of you.

Welcome to The Pit Jim Samuel and thanks for introducing yourself!

Although you've been with us for some time (and likely read this dozens of times on others' intros), here's your very own link to the homework assignment post for new members, it contains a few how-tos and please-dos. This will help you learn your way around so you can get the best experience from our forum.

Also, it's very important that you:
                      1. Give us an email address you actually use. You can set or change your email on file with us by clicking your name in the upper-right, then User Settings, then the Notifications tab.
                      2. Add the domain AmazingRibs.com to your email safe list. We NEVER spam! This is important to receive notices about your account, such as if you’re up for renewal or are ever drawn as our monthly Gold Medal Giveaway winner, which is open to all USA members or those with a USA delivery address (we’d hate to have to pick another person because you don’t answer us)!

Hope to hear & see more from you!

Welcome again, Jim Samuel! Interesting to hear about a kettle grill out in the elements with the lid up since 1989, someone must've hated that thing to do that to it! Glad you were able to salvage it. Be sure to check out the Slow 'N Sear for it, temp control will be easier than ever.
