Greetings from Philadelphia, HOW YOU DOIN'? Joined up a few days ago just haven't had the time to post in here yet. Still pretty new to the smoking game here. Had to replace my old kettle grill this year (rest in scrap Fireball) so I decided why not try getting into the world of smoking. I snagged a Char Broil 1280 pretty damn cheap and that was that or so I thought. Oh how deep the rabbit hole is. So far this crappy spring I haven't really fired off much, just 3 racks of ribs and a 7lb roaster chicken, but damn it was good eats.
Now I'm looking into modding the crap out of the 1280 to make it better. I've noticed a ton of leaking from the box that I'm gonna seal up once I get the grill all sanded down and repainted and the stack needs a gasket too. Once the weather stops going from 10 to 70 then back to 10 and then 70 with rain then 20 and snow I'll be able to get that all done.
I've got a ton to learn yet about smoking like I have trouble managing my heat but I'm sure with enough playing around I'll get it nailed down.
