Hello from Northern Virginia, in the sprawling suburbs of Washington, DC. I'm originally from Iowa, I spent a number of years in Texas, and I've been fortunate to live all over the world.
While I have grilled for a long time, and bought my first smoker in 2007 (mostly doing ribs), I didn't get serious about barbecue until I moved back here in 2013. I started with a WSM, and still use it occasionally, but recently I have mainly been cooking on my PBC. I've also been experimenting with sous vide meats. I tend to favor spicier rubs and sauces.
Of the big four BBQ meats, I'm strongest in pork butt and ribs, decent with brisket, and weakest with chicken. I took a competition BBQ class a few weeks ago, but I'm not quite ready to take that plunge. Maybe someday...
Other interests include photography, meteorology, brewing (beer, kombucha, etc.), and eating.
