Firefighter from Ohio. Originally from eastern North Carolina. Always been a huge fan of pig pickin's/hog roasts & lean heavily towards the vinegar based roasts. Have used a Napoleon pedestal charcoal grill for the past ten years (year 'round) until I recently had to lay it to rest. Looking to replace it with a charcoal grill again & was interested in the kamado grills until I saw the pk grill & it's reviews. I'm no expert but could stand for hours around a grill, learning & breathing the charcoal aroma of the food gods! Favorite steak hands down is a ribeye. Looking forward to hearing what interests other backyard grillers.

*Kamado Joe "Classic Joe"*
*Weber Spirit (for quick weeknight cooks)*
*Cyber Q Wi-Fi temp controller for overnight cooks*
*ThermaPen Instant* *Thermapen Chef Alarm* ...and pretty much any wheat beer!
Welcome! Great thing about this site is that it is "equipment agnostic". No snobbery here over brand or style of cooker. I love my Kamado Joe, great value for the money in a ceramic cooker. Also have a Weber gasser for quick cooking and I wouldn't turn away from a PBC or Weber Kettle/SNS combo either.

mrgadgt Welcome to the Pit! Everyone loves their cooker, and everyone has their strength and weakness. Making a choice involves what you are after most. Versatility? Low and slow? Grilling? I am a BGE guy with a Weber Jumbo Joe. I have my reasons. If you are interested I would be willing to share.Last edited by LA Pork Butt; February 23, 2016, 03:21 PM.
