    Welcome to The Pit Dave! Youre getting ready to REALLY up your barbecue game with those purchases. I recommend a 5 lb pork shoulder for your first cook. When you have a chance take a few minutes to read my welcome letter as well as tips on how to use The Pit. They can be found in the Welcome and Announcements Channel. In particular, check out my tip #4 on pic uploading. It will help display your pics in a larger format that's viewable in the thread itself. As you can see we're a small but growing community. The more information and love you put in the more interest we'll get from fellow Pit members.     Howdy from Florida

    Hi guys, my name is Dave and I live in Neptune Beach, FL with my wife and 6 kids (yours, mine, and ours.) I've always loved grilling, but now I'm ready to take it to the next level. I cook on a 22 inch Weber Kettle, and just ordered the Maverick remote thermometer and the Smokenator + Hover-grill. I'm on a quest for bbq perfection. In the past I never measured temperatures inside the grill and that practice has led to an inconsistent bbq career. I've owned other grills, but the Kettle is one I've come to revere and I think I'll stick with it. I love this website and look forward to learning from you all.
