How toxic are we talking about here...
To paraphrase a popular humorist (Orson Bean, as I recall) from the 50's/60's, "Between my dad and me, we know everything there is to know. Unfortunately, that's one of the things that he knows ... so I can't help you".

I can however, welcome you from Colorado ...

Lot of various information out there on this product and it's safety with higher temperatures. I would error on safety and burn the barrel out, sandblast, or both. Food safety should be top priority. I personally burn mine out and sand the clean. This is just my humble opinion.

The Cool Kettle With The Hinged Hood We Always Wanted

Napoleon’s 22″ Pro Cart Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It’s hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the 22″ Pro Cart a viable alternative.
