Guess I have taken the lazy way. After 3-4 grillings or smokes, I would crank up the heat. 450-500 and let it burn off the grease and residue. Then take stiff bristle brush and scrub it.

All of my grill grates are round. The Kamado, Webber and PBC. I have an expensive gasser that came built in the outdoor kitchen that I refuse to use.
that said, I bought a black plastic drain pan for water heaters. I soak the greats with water and some Dawn soap and set it in the sun to get warm.
after a while the grates are fairly easy to clean with stainless steel pads.
Oh yea, you need to go to the plumbing section and buy a pvc plug for the fitting. Do not glue it in, no need. Pull it out to drain.Last edited by Angryfish; June 3, 2023, 02:05 PM.

I'm with the burn it off crowd. I do, at the start of the season, take the powerwasher to the inside of the Weber kettle and to the food grate, mostly because I have it out to wash the patio anyway so why not?
I'm only concerned with how the cleanliness affects the cooking - I don't instagram pics of my grill.
