    Re-Purposed Weber 18 Into a Pizza Oven

    A couple of years ago I rescued this Weber 18 from a dumpster on a construction site. The bottom was rusted out and I was trying to figure out if I could fix it somehow. Then I had an Ah Ha moment. I made the hole a little larger and set it on top of my turkey fryer burner. Then I added pizza stone. That one cracked so I put a good one on top of the cracked one. That solved that problem.

    Viola...A dedicated pizza oven.

    With cooking pizzas on the grill, I always had the issue of the bottom of the pizza cooking before the top. To solve this problem I mounted refractory bricks in the lid using the charcoal grate. It works like a charm.

    Pizzas cook in about 5 minutes or so.

            That's awesome. Gas fired pizza ovens are great. I use this 18" Weber as a dedicated pizza oven but use wood and charcoal.
