Unusual Grease Build up in Weber Kettle

I've been a Weber Kettle user for years. This year I've had an unusually high build up of grease in the cooker. I've had to do a major cleaning about once a month. I'm cooking the same things I always cook--chicken, steak (rib-eye, tri-tip), one rib cook, burgers, pork loins.

It has been a cool, wet summer here in the Chicago area. I'm using it about half as much as I normally use it because of the frequent rain.

    Any thoughts?

Sounds to me like you're cooling off the kettle after the cook is over more quickly than you used to. Possibly due to the weather or just a minor change in your technique. Is this possible?

Yes, that is quite possible. I will pay attention to it the next few cooks. Thanks!

Pour leftover charcoal ash onto the greasy parts before your next cook. The ash will soak up the grease.

In my area, there's a lot more humidity this year in previous years. This tends to affect my equipment. I normally close everything up when the food comes off the grill/smoker. Lately I've been burning the residue off longer than usual. Something to consider..
