Okay, this company really believes in their kettle one-touch cleaning replacement....
So I am shopping for a replacement kit for my kettle's one-touch cleaning system that has rusted through after six years. I should have expected there to be quite a few Chinese-marketed clones of it.
Reading their ad copy on Amazon is always a trip, but I found one that really, really, believes in their product. This clearly was written for Father's Day, but wow.....

I'm interested in the results when you get it installed and used. I did a deep clean on my performer last winter. Though that was the second time doing this during my 6yrs of ownership and there was no sign of corrosion (not a shock here in the desert), I figured I'd go ahead and replace the sweeps before they got too gunked up.
I bought the kit directly from Weber and they just didn't seem to create a great "seal" over the slots. Granted, I don't know how they originally functioned as at that time I was pretty new to this world. Did my first low n' slow and had trouble keeping the temps down to where I wanted them. Even with a FB and fan! I figured I just cleaned it too well and got more leaks between the lid and bowl.
So I bought another kit earlier this year and ended up doing a mix and match of the 2 kits to get the best fit/function. Combine that with some vortex wing cooks I hoped that would gunk up the bottom of the bowl. To date it still fits floppy after multiple cooks.

So am I. I have seen some people recommend to "bend down" the blades slightly before installing. Actually, my concern is getting the old ones off! I've heard of people needing to use dremell tools and the like.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Getting the old ones off by myself was a PITA as well as putting on the new one. A third hand to help the new install makes it very easy and quick to do. Get a helper.
Unless of course you are endowed like Panhead John of the now famous The Burnt Bean BBQ Incident during the Oct 2024 Texas Meat Up and you have a third hand already.
I bought the Chinese knock off from Amazon, also. And it did not fit as well as the Weber. It works but its loose. The handle turns and doesn't lock in place. I sort've regret not paying Weber their money and getting the right replacement.
If it eases your pain any, I got the Weber replacements under warranty, and they don't really fit right either. They don't quite close all the way. no big deal when cooking, but I can't snuff the fire completely as quickly as I should be able to 🤷♂️
