Found a Weber 26 and then some. Back in February, I found a CL add for a 26" kettle with a Cajun Bandit rotisserie and a Slow n' Sear for $350. Well it was in Florida, a 7-hour round trip for me. I had a buddy who was building a house near Daytona who went there about every week. He said he would get it on his way and bring it back. He did, and he he also brought back $50. The seller had just purchased it all during Christmas of 2015. Not including tax and shipping it was worth around $580.

This is related to my earlier post: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...ager-questions
(Again, not letting me post pics) While I was finding amazing deal #1, the same place also had a brand new, shiny, stainless steal Kitchenaid 6 burner grill (model 720-0826) that retails for around $1,200 and they were asking $250. It had notable flaws: missing heat deflector plates, missing grill grate, and there was no side shelf where the side burner used to be, just the gas line and knob sticking out the side. I don't care for side burners on my grills anyway, and I decided that I could replace the heat deflectors and grate easily enough, so I ended up getting the guy to take $150 for it. I got it home and tested all of the burners and they work well. Now, I just have to find the parts I need and maybe some of you can help me with that.
1) Does anyone know of reputable grill parts suppliers?
2) Instead of replacing the grill grate with the standard stainless steel grate it used to have, I am considering just buying a full set of GrillGrates, since the review here is pretty high on them. So my question is, are they suitable for full time use to grill everything, or are they really designed as an accessory, and therefore I should get a standard grate first?
3) Would it be easier to replace the side burner/shelf, or remove that piece of gas line somehow?
Thanks for any and all suggestions!

In order of acquisition:
Pit Barrel Cooker (changed my life)
Thermoworks Thermapen
Camp Chef Somerset II with griddle
Weber Kettle w/ Slow N Sear
Thermoworks Smoke
GoGalley Eagle 100
The GoGalley Eagle 100 tailgating grill is discontinued and being sold by Dirt Cheap stores at 60% off the m.s.r.p. of $2450 resulting in a total of $980. Additionally, active military can get an extra 10% off on Mondays and senior citizens can get 10% off onTuesdays bringing the total to $882. I was impatient and got one a couple of weeks ago when it was still 50% off but took my dad with to get the senior citizens discount. Still worth what I paid for it though. Dirt cheap store are located throughout the southeast and it appears that each store received around 3 grills.
It is a shame that the owner/developer couldn't get this this off the ground and profitable as this is really an incredible grill per myself and more importantly per Meathead.

You will have to call the nearest store to see if they still have one on hand. There is most likely nothing else in the store of interest and no reason for someone looking for a grill to walk through the doors. Also, they did almost no advertising so I doubt many have sold. I was just lucky to run across this deal.

Smoker: None yet, part of why I joined
Thermometer: 10+ yr old Taylor digital thermometer with remote
Sous Vide: Anovo Imersion Circulator (1st gen)
Coffee Roaster: Hot Top Coffee Roaster
Adult Beverages: Fighting Cock Bourbon, Leinny Shandy, Troegs Mad Elf
I was surprised to see I hadn't posted this here. I thought I had done pretty good. In my "Introduce Yourself" I mentioned that my BF wouldn't let me clean his grill to smoke, I should get my own. So I did. I didn't want a black one, I saw a blue performer at Crate and Barrel for $400. LOL That wasn't happening. Then I saw a 22" on CL for $150. Hmm, for $150 I could buy a fancy new one copper colored. Well, I managed to talk him down to $75 and brought home a nice blue Weber. It has the wood handles and, did I mention, it's blue?
This is what I brought home.
I have done the rehab on it (except for the triangle). I added an ash catcher and marked the vent openings. New coal grate and cooking grate. Santa contributed a SnS+. I'll have to post the restored pic, it was raining when I finished putting on the ash catcher.Last edited by Atalanta; January 3, 2017, 08:37 AM.

Weber Summit Kamado with SnS and Vortex.. Broil King Baron, Primo Oval Junior. Primo XL. Love grilling steaks, ribs, and chicken. Need to master smoked salmon. Absolutely love anything to do with baking bread. Favorite cool weather beer: Sam Adams Octoberfest Favorite warm weather beer: Yuengling Traditional Lager. All-time favorite drink: Single Malt Scotch
And just like that, I have entered the world of kamado cooking! A friend at work and I were having a discussion about grills and BBQ in general, and sharing pictures of our food porn. Suddenly Ted says, "Hey they have Akorns on clearance at Walmart. I just got two juniors the other day, and I have a extra one. Oh, and the big one is on clearance for $139!" I have been wanting to get into kamados, but I am lacking the big bucks for ceramic. I figured "what the heck!" So Ted tells me, "Hey, I go right by the Clinton Walmart on my way home. You want me to get you one?" What a friend! What a stinking MCS enabler! "And oh by the way, do you want one of the Juniors? They're just great for camping and tailgating." Ted, Ted yer killin' me!
So Ted goes to Walmart on his way home, and buys the grill fro me, and brings it to work the next day! Along with The Junior! So for $227, including taxes, I am a two-kamado owner! 😎

Kamados make exceptional ovens. I use mine all the time, running 400 F, to take care of sides.

Part 2...
Then, which kinda rocked me back some, th' seller refunded $100, outta respect, an' kindness...Patriotism, too, I reckon'.
Now, if y'all recollect, proper, in Greg's post, Meathead popped in, long about here:, an' made a beyond kind offer...
Well, some emails went back an' forth, betwixt me, th' seller, me, an' Meathead...
I finally struck a deal, have had th' smoker fer several weeks, an Meathead cut/sent me a check, after I told him of my acquisition...
