I got the opportunity to use my Kindling Cracker XL today getting some Scrub Oak ready for a test cook of some chickens coming up. I found out that one should use a hammer larger than 3 lb with the XL, although the 3 lb hammer did work.

Agreed. I currently have a 3 and just today finally ordered a 4. Only for full sized pieces of wood though.

I think you will find that you prefer the 4 lb for most any size pieces. At least I do.

If I had a hammer, I’d hammer in the morn, I’d hammer in the evenin, I’d hammer all..........
I guess I don’t know the lyrics, so I’ll just hum em.

I LOVE our Kindling Cracker XL!! We use an 8 pound sledge. A little big for some applications, but it works!!

Yeah, I have a big old long-handled mallet. Gets the job done. Wonderful invention!

I use an 8 lb almost everyday for work, it can be used like a precision scalpel in the right hands. More versatile than a 3 lber

Naw, it's considerable more heavier than 8#, an powerful less precise, even in these experienced hands, lol!
