    Persimmon wood for pork butt

Anybody tried it? Just got some as a gift and smoking two butts tomorrow.

I would think it would be great with pork butt. Any fruit wood pairs very well with Porcine. Let us know what you think!

I'm going to go for it. Don't know if I will add hickory or not
      might overpower.

let us know.I love experimenting with different wood chips. Looking for some camphor wood chips to make a tea smoked duck right now. Thinking of using some fig wood this winter when we prune one of the fig trees back.

I was at a private lake one day about a year ago and a dead persimmon branch about as big arpund as my arm and about 10' long just fell down as I was walking by. . Of course, I had to be a good citizen and pick it up and haul it away. Those chunks are just waiting for the right opportunity. I pulled off a splinter of it and lit it (my usual test), and the smoke smelled really nice.
