    Interesting species chart

Studying some literature at work and came across this. I don't think I've seen a chart like this with the starting, ember, and sparks columns before... but maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Source is The Complete Book of Home Inspection.

I'll make sure to build my next house out of Apple or Cherry since it is not easily lit, but smells excellent while it burns. Consequently my two favorite woods for smoking meat.

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs I think now we need a species chart to track what meat we've grilled....

This wood chart is interesting however.

Run red oak in my fireplace and in my pit.

One of my favorites for the fireplace was always juniper. Fairly easy starting, good aroma, and pretty blue and green hues in the flames.

When out camping in the west, nothing beat aspen or cottonwood for a quick starting campfire. Being soft woods, they didn't last long but gave a nice pop and crackle.
