Smoking with... HAY?

I had two uncles who grew Timothy grass for hay. Took several cuttings a year. It was used in the late fall through spring when grass had browned off. Now a days you will see great big rolls of hay in the fields or blown into white tunnels. Some the length of a barn.
As a definition hay is used for feed and straw is used for bedding. Hay can be any grass, legume or herbaceous plant that has been cut and dried. Straw is the by produce of cereal crops wheat, oats, rice, and others. It is used as fuel, livestock bedding, thatching, and basket making, it can also be used as fodder if hay is not available. It is almost always stored in bales.Last edited by mountainsmoker; August 22, 2019, 12:57 PM.

saw a show where the split a chicken and a duck, sewed the tiger Frankenstein style, and smoked it in hay. Who knows. The guy was starred. We grow fertilized coastal Bermuda horse quality hay at the farm, maybe I'll give it a try.
