It's cheaper at Ace Hardware, JGo37 , plus you can order it online and pick it up at your local Ace store, easy peasy. No shipping charges. That's how I got my first 2 bags of B&B Briquettes, thanks to the suggestions on this topic.
I had tried the B&B lump in my WSCGC kamado and did not like it as well. I like the Briquettes version better.
Thanks Kathryn, I'm looking forward to doing some comparisons and keeping notes. I'm also experimenting with 3 different types of grills. If I find out anything interesting I'll do a post.
Yeah I think B & B briquettes is where its at, I think for Lump as of right now I lean towards FOGO. I've tried RO, Jealous Devil and Rockwood, but for some reason I like FOGO a little better, (Shrug) To each his own I suppose.
I did this for a while but ended up with more and more broken bits in the can and when I got towards the bottom I was breathing in a lot of dust as I leaned in to get the charcoal. I still use a galvanized trash can to store my charcoal but now I just toss the bags inside. I usually have a bag of briquettes and a bag of lump in there side by side. I also use a smaller can to dispose of ashes which gets transferred to the city compost bin once in a while.
Attjack I've never seen the bottom, I refill it when it gets 3/4 empty. I've got a bag of mesquite in my Performer storage - this stuff is general purpose, a mix of KBB and local. But thanks for the dust tip - I'll beware.
None of my local Ace’s carry B&B in store, but my Academy had some bags of briquettes. Can’t wait to try reverse searing some ribeyes on the PBC Sunday.
