I have a BBQ Guru DigiQ DX3, Pit Viper fan, and the WSM vent adapter for sale. Also included is a pit and meat probe. There is nothing wrong with it whatsoever, I just like setting the airflow better myself. This has only been used once. The asking price is $100.

When I first got mine, I used it all the time. Now I only use it once in awhile. I agree with setting the vents manually, and I think I actually get better flavor on the meat when I don't use the fan. No real proof, just my taste buds I guess.

I feel like the fan is fine, but trying to put the necessary amount of air through one small hole in the vent is a problem. I'm about to just take that adapter and tape off and let it run nekkid.
