I agree, @zero-credit ! Why didn't the pilgrims have duck, or partridge. Or, picanha. 😏

Dr. Pepper Exactly. But we don’t do turkey every year so next year will probably be some beefy goodness.

I went with Clint Cantwell's recipe for spatchcocked bird, and it was absolutely outstanding. It's not as pretty as some others, but it was the best bird on the grill so far. We'll definitely do this one again. Find it here...
    https://amazingribs.com/spatchcock-turkey-recipe/

I couldn't get the temp as hot as I wanted, but it's prob just as well. The Weber ran 325ish for the full 2.5 hrs it took to get the breast of the 13lb bird to 160F. I used B&B lump with a small handull of cherry chips at the start. Great flavor with just a very hint of smoke. My wife was satisfied with the lack of heavy smoke like previous years.

I did the same. After 90 minutes I brought it inside, in the oven, for another 30 minutes. We pulled at breast temp 150º. A very Tuscan turkey.

Thank you tbob4. Unfortunately, we missed my son's family. That would have added 5 more including my other 3 grandchildren. Hopefully next year.

Well it was just the two of us this year so we decided to skip the whole turkey and sides spread. However, to keep at least something turkey related in our dinner. We had a turkey pot pie.

NOW un-scrunch you nose. My wife found a hand made pie in a little specialty market near our house. And I gotta tell you, it was fantastic. I forgot to take pictures though. I know. Sorry. But it turned out to be a great Thanksgiving dinner for two with some nice leftovers. Who would have dreamed it?

I love a good turkey pot pie and I don’t blame ya one bit. Who wants to go through all the work involved with a Thanksgiving spread for 2 people? I didn’t do turkey and trimmings either today.

I hear you. This Thanksgiving it was rotisserie chicken, a small tray of dressing, and macaroni and cheese. Just right for two, and not a lot of work.

My wife's final leftover turkey meal is a from-scratch turkey pot pie she makes, and it is fantastic! Not a thing wrong with a well made TPP!

Followed Meatheads process, 14lb bird smoked on WSM 22 w/apple and cherry, using Weber briquettes, Simon & Garfunkel, 3.5hr cook. Crispy skin and moist meat - if I don’t say so myself, I did a good job.

Party of 2. Broke down the bird. Tanked the leg quarter and roasted the boneless/skin-on breast. Plated shown with the breast. Mashed red skin potatoes, gravy., dressing (or harvest bread pudding LOL), Brussels with my homemade bacon, cranberries from Martha Stewart. Since the bird was broken down, I made stock as well.

I like the plating. How were the Brussels with the homemade bacon? Next level? It's great being able to make it whatever size you want.

Brussels were great. I steam them a bit and finish by tossing with the bacon, a couple twists of cracked black pepper..

Went to Mom’s for Thanksgiving and luckily we were both fine doing untraditional. No sense in an all day cooking and cleaning affair for just 2 people. Did a Mississippi Pot Roast in the slow cooker. As usual, it came out great. This one is just too easy to make, and not mess up. Bonus joke included, no extra charge.

Thanks Attjack I just bought that new slow cooker wok….works great!

Did chicken and not turkey. Still did the homemade cranberry sauce, stuffing, mac and cheese, roasted brussel sprouts , and also shepherds pie. Dont have pics of everything cause i was running around like a mad man. 4 adults, 3 kids, WAY too much food.

Did the turkey from Meathead’s book. Fantastic. Didn’t eat that much either because I filled up on my sides. Burnt ends and 2 bricks of cream cheese. These were done on the pellet smoker and the turkey was done on my WSM. It was chillier today and the WSM struggled to stay above 300 range. But alls well that ends well. And the Bears managed to barely win against the worst team in the NFL.

Good bird today for flyingpiglet and he sisters. 14.5 lbs, dry brined 3 days, then S&G rub over a short stock. Great color, and overall a darn fine bird.

            Agree Sir "darn fine bird".

Dinner at my brother-in-law and sister in-law's. They were roasting one turkey and deep frying another. I assisted with the deep frying and the carving of both birds.

13.7lb bird. Dropped into 390F oil. Oil temp dipped to 320F before reheating to 350.

          Happy Thanksgiving, Pitmasters

Glad you had relatively light duty after your recent food-a-palooza!

          Thanksgiving, You know the drill.

Not the best turkey I've ever made, ended up over temp a bit, but that's what gravy's for. Wasn't bad, just could have been juicier.

I used Kenji's recipe. The batter got made night before last, that rest really helps 'em pop. I think I may have gotten to a higher hydration when I scaled up the recipe for a 12 well pan. Six beers is not really conducive to doing math in your head.

Sure you got the correct math count on the beers.

Same recipe I used but I only had six muffins instead of 12 so I should have cut the recipe in half, despite the recipe saying it makes 6. And the butter in the pan just made them oily so I will skip that too.
