I cooked a contest in Fort Smith July 11th. It was so hot that I believe my focus was off. Got spanked pretty good!
Decided last week I'd go judge in Dyersburg, TN on Saturday. It was close to the century mark for the cooks. Judges were inside in air conditioning. Over-done, under-seasoned food seemed to be the norm. I think it has to be the heat.
It has been close to 100 here and 100% humidity (I guess you know that!) I can't imagine having to stand out there feeding a stick burner all day. I used to work out in the GA sun all summer, but I have long since converted to a desk in an air conditioned office lifestyle.
Congrats on the show by the way, just saw it last night.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.
