    First Backyard Competition Results

I competed in my first competition today. It was a backyard people's choice contest...There were four categories; Pork, Ribs, Chicken and Beef / Steak...There were only five teas competing total. Only one team entered Chicken and Beef, four teams entered Ribs and all five teams entered Pork.

I only entered pork and cooked my Pork Belly Burnt Ends...It was probably my best batch of burnt ends ever...

They were a huge hit with everyone and I won the pork category...Winner of each category received a BBQ Guru and a $100 BBQ Guru Gift Card...

    Here are a few pics...

Oh man, good for you!!! I'm always in awe of those who lay it out there like that. I'm not someone who lacks confidence, but comps are definitely a step above my comfort zone. Congratulations!!

I'm with you, CaptainMike . I like the comforts of home/deck cooking too much to want to haul everything out to a venue and cook there. Plus I know I'd screw something up. Kudos to all who enter and enjoy Competition BBQ!

I only did one category and was exhausted...I can't imagine how tiring a KCBS 4 meat comp is...

Congrats on the win and I sense you had a distinct advantage serving burnt ends. Who doesn't love well prepared burnt ends.
I forsee many comps in your future☺

That sort of grossed me out, truth be told. Maybe I've got a dirty mind. Smoking Neighborhood Butts would be more accurate anyway.

I still think that pig logo is one of the cleverest ones I've ever seen. I want a t-shirt emblazoned with it.

                          K.
