    Competition ribs

    I typically cook spares. Does anyone cook loin backs for competition? What is the opinion of the pit? CandySueQ Spinaker

    I have never competed or judged....but it seems to me that they are usually turning in Spares. But Candy will be the go to on this one. I bet Powersmoke_80 and Juddlight can help you though. They were just a Grand Champions.

      This local competition was spares but the meet was supplied.

    I cook both but prefer baby backs. I'd just really rather eat baby backs. I'm having a hard time with ribs this year. I've cooked 6 contests. 2 with baby backs and 4 with spares and haven't done any good with either! I am hauling the drum to hang spares this coming weekend. See if I can't get some rib magic going!

      I have never cooked spares in competition but have judged them. I like baby backs they cook faster and to me are sweeter.
