Yes, they went the way of Kamado Joe and others. Unfortunately for KJ, it was venture capital group who was the buyer. In the case of Primo, it is a family owned outfit that also owns Broilmaster plus some other fireplace related business.
Interesting that when I spent a few minutes on the new owners website, there is no indication that they own Primo. A quick look at the Primo website gives no indication as to a new owner or press release that I could find. I am now curious as to why?
My son has the XL Primo Oval and it is a very fine kamado. I am hopeful that the new owners, if they pulled the trigger, will push Primo in a positive direction.

@Mark the good one We're looking at a new hinge, rotisserie, and a new cap. I'm hearing all will be compatible with the old XL model so current owners can upgrade.

A new design hinge isn’t necessary. Stainless steel hardware is the only real upgrade needed. My stuff is showing signs of exposure to Florida. The cap redesign also isn’t necessary, even in heavy rain very little gets in the grill. And what does turns to steam quickly because I’m using the heat plates. Still, I would probably get one.
the rotisserie is neat. I’m thinking that it would be possible to use direct heat for stuff.
I’m just hoping the new owners don’t try to mess with the ceramic formula, or increase margins by going thinner or something. But if they can increase production capability and flex their existing dealer network to get Primo out in more stores, that’s awesome!

Kamado Joe Big Joe III, PKGO, Jumbo Joe and PBC. Weber kettle @ the hunting camp.
According to "Primo Nick" in the Primo FB group, the updates are target Aug. 2020, but with the virus stuff supply chains are strained and could be later. He seemed optimistic they would hit the August target.

My son has a Primo XL and it is great kamado. The hinge on his is flimsy and needs to be treated gingerly! The shape is awesome and gives you better real estate than my Egg!
Looking forward to more insights on the improvements. Primo's pricing is a bit steep and it will be interesting to see if the new owners go after more market share or not.

Yea, I’m following these announcements close. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, still doing a little research. The two dealers remotely close don’t have any to look at..🙄🙄

I didn’t know if you were able to locate a hinge photo. Dadof3Illinois

Attjack it’s 21 1/2â€x 17â€x7â€
I hope this works better so the water don’t slosh and I’m hoping to toss the hot grates in soapy water. Plus it doubles as a bus tray/Mis carrier/ Ranch dressing making vessel etc...
