Looks just like mine only less used. When I bought mine it came with a fan and controller which I've almost always used so I'll let someone else field your question. Congrats on your score!

It’s a balance between the top and bottom vent. I’d say that looks about right....depending on how much the bottom is. 😄

Mine is waiting for my kitchen to be finished...just read Meathead’s note on calibrating. Any tips for a former BGE owner, hesitant about using briquets but it makes sense if there’e no food in there.
