    De-gunking my cap

Looking for suggestions to de-grease-degunk my Primo cap (new style). It is so bad that i can't move the vent at all.

Try putting it in a container that is deeper than the cap and use a lot of dish washing liquid and hot water and let it soak for a few hours. It should scrub claen pretty easy than,

I’ve tried several ways on the caps for my Kamado Joes. They are cast iron, I’m not sure what yours is made of. I’ve found that some heat can help. I use a small propane torch to get them hot which will let you wipe some of the gunk off. I boiled 1 once wow that was a mess. I tried carburetor cleaner once but it took so much it’s cost prohibitive. My next try will be in the oven with it set on self clean. I did CI skillets that way when I first started learning to clean and season CI. It can get hot enough to warp a skillet but I don’t think it will hurt a chunk like the vent cap.

Thanks for the tips, the new style cap is not cast iron. Gonna try taking apart and soaking in hot water first.

So in trying to take apart, one of the hex screws stripped out. Primo is sending me a new cap under warranty, so problem solved!
