Hmmmm, 240v, was it aimed at the commercial/restaurant or foreign market? I suppose a home owner could plug it into a dryer circuit, but not a common thing on a patio.

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs Is that charcoal or those lava rocks? Hard for my old eyes to tell. However, it clearly says 'Not for use on solid fuels' so that would preclude the use of charcoal.
-
@ComfotablyNumb the text in the eBay description says the last owner used it for charcoal and said charcoal is still in it lol. If it was a non-ebay listing I'd contact the seller and offer bottom dollar since the charcoal specifically shouldn't be used. Then I'd restore it because it is pretty unique

Yeap, very interesting. It ran on 20 amps worth of 240v, which means most folks didn't have a plug readily available for that! Nor do they today unless they have a welder outside.
Not sure why you'd want one other than if you collect old grills? I can imagine it ate heating elements about as fast as you could put them in it. I also doubt the controller liked wet weather duty outside either. So I am betting they didn't work real well and the power requirements it required never created a demand for them.
Meanwhile maybe PK will buy it for their own collection. I've seen photos of some of their older stuff they have and I don't remember seeing an electric.
