So I purchased the grill today, time will tell if it does the things I wanted it to do but...

It's "portable" (under 120lbs so I can get it in my truck solo), it should be very durable even with periods of neglect, but it's not a PK model because my wife wanted something that can maybe cook a turkey close to our old Big Easy SRG. I THINK I can get close to the results she's wanting AND I know I'm going to have similar joy that I had with the PKGO trying to make this do things it's not really meant to excel at... like grilling. So what is it? I pulled the trigger on a Hasty Bake Roughneck.

I do appreciate everyone's input it did help me narrow my research and wants. I actually was getting ready to pull the trigger on a HB Ranger in their upcoming S&D but then my wife threw the turkey curveball. I loved our BESRG, but it was wanting replacement parts at year 2 on the deck even though it survived quite a while before being gifted to a friend. If they made a higher end version I would have got that. The normal Big Easy didn't make sense due to being a dedicated bird cooker, so it was pretty much down to barrel cookers (even a square one)... also I remember kinda talking smack a few years ago about HB releasing a high priced rusty grill (Bertha) and then learning about corten steel due to that discussion. I've kinda been fixated on that patina steel since then.

I think a rusty grill that should last quite some time is a perfect deck partner for an all stainless MAK

(Going forward I'll document this adventure in the HB subforum)

Congrats on that new HB, ItsAllGoneToTheDogs . I'll be following your evaluations over on the HB channel. Curious to see how it burns in and how you like cooking on it.

I'm enjoying everything about it except when furniture needs to be swapped on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

Definitely been entertaining a roughneck for the past year. I hope you enjoy it!

I'll do my best to document it, for as popular as a cooker it is... it's VERY hard to find the information I was interested in about it. Kent Rollins supposedly uses it often but the Youtube search algorithm only focuses on HB and not the model. There's a few other people with 1 or 2 cooks but they don't go over the things I was interested in.
