    Insulate PBC in cold weather?

I saw on amazingribs.com how some folks insulate their smokers/cookers during the winter (To maintain temps? Regulate cooking times?).

I emailed PBC company about doing this and received the following email from Amber Glanville:

    Hi Michael,
Thank you for the email, you will cook as usual. We don't recommend insulating it as we cook in sub zero temps here in Colorado. Your cook times will be longer in extreme cold however.

    Thank you,

Thanks for sharing Mike. I suppose if they encouraged insulating that would be a can a worms for them. Everyone would have their own methods of doing so, some safe others not so safe. They would probably receive a barrage of emails asking for advice....

Yeh, a hotter burning charcoal sure comes in handy on cold nights.

Jerod, you are in Louisiana or Texas correct? What do you consider a cold night there in winter, like 55 degrees? Break out the sweatshirt! Mike, thanks for looking into that. I had the same question for Noah and Amber. You answered it for me.

I'm in Texas, 1 mm of snow is natural disaster here.
Folks bring out their inner Eskimo when temps get in the 40s. Quite hilarious.
