For ’tis the season! I love glögg (mulled wine) more than most adult beverages. Here are a few of this year’s contestants. Any glögg lovers in the pit? I know Meathead has a great article on glögg over on the free site:

Have a smoke filled weekend my friends!

Oh yeah! I know it as "gløgg" ... but love it no matter the spelling.

I enjoy mulled wine when the air turns cold. I've attempted to make my own, and it was okay...

Well, if it isn't, it should be.

Love mulled wine whens it is cold outside. 30c and sunny here in the real South.

        Yep, it's best when it's cold outside. It's close to 0 deg C here (32 deg F), so I feel it's warranted :-)

I may have to "mull" this one over for a bit......

Is this similar to German Glühwein? I love that stuff and make it every year.

Yes, it’s very similar, glögg is a little sweeter.

My father used to like it. He called it "glug" but he was s Connecticut swamp Yankee, so what did he know?

I have a friend from Skellefteå who sent me a packet of glögg spices. Sadly I never used it to make mulled wine.

I have heard of it but didn't know what it entailed until I researched it now.

smokin fool You can make it without the added alcohol. Just wine and some spices equals a good tasting mulled wine.

Assuming I can find Swedish glögg in the wine store, is there a brand that you would recommend, Henrik ? Or should I just try Meathead's recipe which actually looks pretty delicious.

I guess Meathead's recipe is by far the quickest. I have no idea what brands are available in the US, but if you even see any in the stores I would love to see a photo of what's on the shelves. Then I'll tell you which one to buy :-)
