I did a search here for Old Fashion and there were no results for my search. What? Are there no pit members who enjoy such a tasty cocktail? This is what I am playing with now:
For a 10 oz drink
6 dashes Angostura aromatic bitters
1 tsp Light Agave Nectar
2 smallish Orange wedge
3 Maraschino cherry
about 4 oz Club soda
about 4 oz Bourbon
Ice
In an Old Fashioned glass add bitters, Agave Nectar, a cherry and a splash of soda.
Twist one of the orange wedges in the glass, rub the peel of the twisted wedge on the rim of the glass, and then drop in the glass.
Muddle the mixture in the glass.
Add the bourbon and fill with ice.
Add remaining club soda.
Garnish with a fresh orange wheel and remaining cherrys.
I have also been playing around Angostura orange bitters.
Original recipe I adapted this from:
I am also aware that a TRUE old fashion has no fruit or soda in it, per http://oldfashioned101.com/, but it seems to be what I currently like. So, while I do not intend to offend the purist, lets try to keep in mind personal taste.
So, do we have any Old Fashion drinkers out there who will share their recipes?
