This last Wednesday I was in Austin for a work trip. Nothing was on the agenda until 1:00 so why not go wait in line at Franklin Barbecue? This was my first trip to Franklin. Last year I went to La Barbecue and Mickelwaith so it was nice to have some other great restaurants to compare to.
Got to the line at 8:00 and we were about 12th in line. I was expecting a longer line than that but I am not complaining.
2 pounds of brisket, 1/2 pound of ribs, 2 sausage links, 1/4 pound turkey, and some pulled pork. $78.80 total. The food was amazing and definitely worth the wait. The brisket was pretty much food perfection. So moist and flavorful. The turkey was probably my second favorite. Wasn't really a fan of the pulled pork. I can't wait to go here again. I did have a ton of food left over but there was a fridge in the hotel so I got to eat for the next couple days. Even cold the brisket was amazing.
I got to tour the pits as well. Just ask and they will be more than accommodating. Got to say hi to Aaron Franklin while I was back there as well. Very friendly guy.
If you want a longer review with more pictures I wrote up my trip on my blog: http://completecarnivore.com/a-trip-...klin-barbecue/
Any questions? Anything you want to know about Franklin?
