    Lockhart Smokehouse-Plano, TX

Just getting around to posting this. Had a great dinner at Lockhart while I was traveling for work in the Dallas area. Brisket, jalapeño sausage, beans and mac n' cheese.

Have you tried Hutchins BBQ in McKinney just NE of Plano? If so, how would they compare? Thanks for post.

If you're back down this way again, check out Pecan Lodge in Dallas. Consistently makes the "best of" lists. A notch above Lockhart's in my opinion.

Pecan Lodge was definitely on my list but the days I was there my work schedule didn't allow for it, they have pretty limited weekday hours. I never made it to Hutchins either, though it was recommended. As for Lockhart, everything I had was great. The fatty brisket was for sure a highlight.

Cooper's in Fort Worth, Pecan Lodge in Dallas, or Hard 8 in Coppell ... I visit one of them every time I am in DFW .... This trip I'm out in Arlington, so I headed over to Cooper's last night. Sliced brisket and beef ribs .... ZOMG

Although I am tempted by Lockhart's since it's the only place in DFW to get sausage from Kreuz

I've had true burnt ends at Lockharts that were best I have ever had. I do not think Pecan does the real burnt ends.

When I'm on the west side of the metroplex, I make a point of going to Cooper's. The beef ribs man, they are killer.

Is it run by the same people who have Kreuz?

          #6
Lockhart's is run by the granddaughter of the guy that bought Kreuz from the Kreuz family.

Okay, okay It's clear I need to go to Lockhart's next time I'm in the Metroplex. Hell, I will make sure I stay in a hotel in that part of town, even though my current customers are in Arlington. Sheesh.

Also Pecan Lodge is in the area we call Deep Ellum which is 10 min or so from Lockharts
