Anthracite Cafe. Every year, the week before Lent, they have Bacon Week. Honest to goodness, we look forward to this like it’s a real February holiday, not a made up one. I have to say, this is the best it’s ever been.
Pork Belly Burnt Ends. I got no words for this. This is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
Fat Pig Grenade. OUTSTANDING. It’s a cross between an ABT and a Scotch egg. Delicious!
Bacon and Chorizo Tacos. Excellent.
Pigs in a Blanket, Asian Style. I love these. The sweet Thai chili sauce is kinda hot. Perfect.
Monster Pork BBQ. Not what you’d expect, it’s not pulled pork but rather shaved smoked pork loin in an au jus, with relish and peppers. This is where I started flagging. I ate a couple slices off, and it’s fantastic. The seasoned fries are super, but they’re for the air fryer tomorrow.
Piggy Wiggy Pierogies! Home made pierogies, stuffed with maple bacon, cheese, onions, and potatoes. Man, they smell good. Tomorrow. We’ve had these before, we ordered them knowing we wouldn’t get to them. That’s how good they are.
BLT Shrimp Alfredo. This sucker must weigh 5 pounds. Mrs got this last year, too. I don’t eat shrimp. She ate about a third of it, and the rest is lunch at work the next two days.
And now you know why we get excited about Bacon Week. How far would I drive? Idk, 50 miles I suppose. An hour. That’s pretty far for a neighborhood pub.
