Hometown received a strong positive review from the NYTimes. Located near IKEA and Fairway market, awkward trip by public transportation to a mostly industrial neighborhood. Large, high ceilinged space. Bar separate from food. Waiting line nicely set apart from dining benches. And wait you will - counter service slow and inefficient. Too few people trying to do too much.

Sides are good, especially greens and tomato/spicy beans with burnt ends. Jerk ribs and tacos available from the kitchen, along with smoked lamb. Both ribs and brisket highly seasoned with cracked pepper- not that much salt or even smoke flavor. Meat held in heat cambros or steam drawers. Brisket overcooked and a bit pot roasty, ribs varied in quality but fine.

OK meal, not worth the inconvenience to return.
