Sad Day For San Diego

Times are changing! More and more Fast foods are going to drive through only. Stores are closing down.
The Lloyd Center shopping mall is about 95% empty. A few years back it was the largest and busiest.

Bummer, unfortunately, this is gonna happen more and more. The same food prices, regulations, and taxes are destroying the restaurant biz in the Twin Cities as well. They went hard after BBQ restaurants in particular. Something about smokers, "Not meeting their standards."
Replace them with huge corporate "restaurants" that offer less choice, crappier products and more money to the top.
Sorry they are shutting down, never cool when a spot like this is forced to close down.

Sorry bro, that's like losing an old friend. Can you imagine trying to keep a restaurant afloat in that state right now? I follow Chef Andrew Greul of Calico Fishouse on Twitter and he discusses the insane regulations and taxes that they are forced to abide by in CA. It has to be incredibly difficult and discouraging for restaurant owners right now.

Sad Day For San Diego
Unfortunately, today was the end of Coop's West Texas BBQ. Coop is still going to do pop-ups and catering, but the restaurant is closed as of today.
This is a total bummer, as IMHO Coop's was the best 'cue in San Diego, even if only narrowly over Grand Old Barbecue. Really bummed I didn't make it out there one last time.Tags: None
