If you own a Camp Chef Woodwind pellet grill with a Gen 1 controller and want to upgrade to the Gen 2 Woodwind controller with the backing plate that fills the cut out of your current controller, now would be the time to order it from Camp Chef (you can't buy this from any other source). Here's why!
Camp Chef's current supply of the Woodwind controller includes the backing plate that will fit the cutout for your current controller. When these are sold out, the replacement models will NOT include the backing plate that will fit the cutout for your current controller and you would need to make your own. The difference between the Woodwind controller and the GEN 2 RETRO FIT WIFI PELLET GRILL CONTROLLER is the woodwind comes with a color screen, 4 probes, and a $250 price vs. digital screen, 2 probes, and $199 price. Also, the Woodwind is NOT shown on their website; you have to call them to order it. Expect a telephone wait time of between 30 and 60 minutes.
Again, the only reason to order now is to insure you get the backing plate that will fit the cutout for your current controller. I waited about 40 minutes to talk to someone and got mine ordered today.
My cost is $267.38 that includes Utah Sales tax - shipping was free.
The Retro Fit model is available from a few other sources, but the Woodwind controller is only available direct from Camp Chef. Just thought a few of you might like to know about this in case you have been thinking about an upgrade to your Woodwind.
