mountainsmoker overpriced? Maybe. But I will have access to all these guys tips and tricks for as long as I am cooking. In addition to any of their books I may have. Since I chose to go into engineering and not the culinary arts, having access to their expertise is worth a couple hundred bucks. To me. Cause I like to eat, and I might as well eat well.
It comes down to what you choose to spend money on. I choose to spend mine here. My choice.
Potkettleblack - related to your comment, I watched an episode of Border Security:Canada where a US producer was coming to Canada to pay his crew and services for a commercial that was being filmed here. He was carrying more than $10,000 so he declared it as he was supposed to do. He was taken into a conference room so the money could be counted. He was travelling alone and had $400,000 CAD in a backpack!

No such thing as a free lunch, and everyone has to eat. Having worked in TV production before my current existence, folks outside have no idea how many people, how much time, and the broad set of equipment it takes even to produce a professional 10 minute video. You visit a movie or TV studio, and you might be surprised to find it not that different from any other factory.
I was taught a couple of things from a very young age:
1. Don't insult someone in their own house.
2. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all.
Apparently you played hooky when these lessons were being taught.
mountainsmoker Do the math in your head: 6 people on the set from the BBQ Stars team: Producer, director, two cameramen, soundman, production assistant. Tens of thousands in equipment. Two days of shooting. Travel and hotel. Then the editors. That's just on their side. On my side: Food, a sous chef, assistant for two days of shooting and a day of prep.
ANd not all the Stars have books. But we all have families and mortgages.
I think it is still highly over priced. Just my opinion. All of the cooks are getting free marketing. They can show off there recipes and ask people to buy there cook books.
They are streaming but you might be able to download them. I'll ask. The length will vary depending on how longwinded each of us are. Probably 10 mins or so?
