FYI, this thing is the BEST tool ever for splitting your splits!! I have had one for about 6 months and it works like a charm!

I'm on this this like a rat on a cheeto. Thanks!

I've been waiting for the right moment! This is going to really help with my charcoal production and stick burner cooks.

Yep. And a little known side benefit is that it's even great for getting chunks down to precisely the right size.

This site is seriously bad for my wallet. I was going to wait until I had more experience stick-burning to buy it, but I'm feeling the pull pretty strong right now.

Questions for those of you who use it PaulstheRibList and others, does most of your wood fit within the 6 1/2" ring, or do you need to split it first? I've read that you shouldn't use wood with knots in it - have you tried, and does it eventually work? I have lots of good wood with lots of knots, so splitting with an axe has been difficult but possible.

I thank you, my wife probably doesn't...

Use logs that are a bit smaller than the inside diameter of the ring, as it will spread out as it goes down over the blade. If it gets stuck, just use a bigger hammer. Flipping the log over and going at it from the other end might help with knots. A really bad knot won't split no matter what you do. If it's possible to split the knotty wood with an axe, it will be easy with this thing.

You will LOVE IT!!! My small stickburner game is so much better thanks to the Cracker. Having just the right size log means you have a clean fire and the right temp. I'm about to order a 3rd one for my portfolio RIGHT NOW!

This thing is a seriously good tool! If in doubt get it and return it if you need to. But you won't. Just think splitting wood without fear of adult beverages (well, unless you're inclined to smash your toe with the mallet). It's a libation (whoops, I meant liberation) tool!

Did you buy from Northern Tool or Amazon? If NT, see if they will reimburse you the difference - lots of stores will do that within 30 days or so. If Amazon, try to return it and buy another one

If you're on the fence about getting one of these, get your butt off the fence and take this deal while you still can! I love mine, and so does everyone who has seen me use it.

I called my local Northen tool & Equip they had it in stock! When I got over there they had it for 79.99 I saw the price and said its cheaper on line, The girl said we price match! went and looked it up and said yep its 10 bucks cheaper on line and gave me the discount!! I must say it doesn't work as easy as the video makes it look, but it did eventually work. Came in just in time for a turkey and Duck this weekend!!

I have the XL, and wound up using the big, long-handled mallet for it. But it works great.

I wanted to update my feeling on this WONDERFUL device. When you 1st open it three is a coating on it, This coating is on the Blade as well (making it dull) but after 6 or 8 uses that coating is warn off and the device works JUST LIKE ADVERTISED! for my Duck Cook yesterday it made sort work of all the wood I put through it. great buy!

I was on that fence for so long I got splinters in me arse, but I'm glad I came around to the idea. The value becomes clear when you are trying to make some 1" thick kindling wood to get your stickburner going. Of activities that are fit to be discussed here (😀) this is a solid #3 in terms of satisfying stress reliever, behind the gun range and splitting full logs with a splitting maul.

I see they have an XL version now, twice as heavy and 9" wide instead of 6.5" wide, taller by another 5" too. I'm saving my nickels for that one.
