Subject: Fwd: {Executive Board} Disturbance in the Gulf
Partners, Sponsors and Supporters,
See below information that we just pushed out by our team to our field support and volunteers. I thought it was worth sharing that and a little more information with you.
We have our command center staged in the Dallas area and our smoker trailers in the Memphis area.
We also have food supplies stocked as well if we are needed from this event. This storm came on quickly due to the warm waters in the Gulf it is intensifying.
Team,
If you are not aware, there is a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico that has the potential to develop into a tropical storm or a Cat. 1 hurricane in the next few days. Some of the predictions are for it to hit somewhere along the Louisiana to Texas state line at the present. This is dependent on how far the system moves south in the Gulf. The farther south it moves the farther west it will move. This looks to be a major rain event with the potential major flooding in the area which is mostly a low lying area.
We have been in contact with local people on the coast in Louisiana in a pre-deployment discussion with local weather forecast to Parrish Presidents etc.
We will have more information as it becomes available in the next few days.
On a safety note, if we do have the need for a deployment in this area and you are available to deploy, I would say that you need to be preparing now to hydrate and nourish your body beyond your normal needs. This area is going to be extremely hot and humid. For anyone that was around, this is going to be another Hammond type weather. Somewhere between extremely hot and melt your skin off. Hammond was the hottest deployment that I have ever been to.
Thanks for what each of you do
