Update from OBR:

Our strike team started producing meals today from our staging location in Charlotte. 6000 meals delivered today and will be cooking 6000 meals tonight for tomorrow.

We are close to finalizing 2 locations. One location will be primary where we anticipate producing up to 25,000 meals a day once we get set up and the 2nd location will have ability to do up to 10,000 meals a day.

We currently have our first round of supplies in place (protein, sides, and nonperishables) at our Charlotte staging area. We have enough supplies to serve 100,000 meals.

We have over 170 volunteers signed up to start volunteering once it is safe to get into the areas. The flooding is still very active and the rain is coming down in buckets across the area. We anticipate knowing more about deploying volunteers in the next 48 hrs.

We are ending our 5th Day in Wilmington (8 days since Hurricane Florence hit the area) and there is still active flooding and road closures. The need has steadily continued to increase and this weekend we think will be the peak. We are averaging 100+ volunteers a day right now and need to continue to have that many as long as we are 30,000+ meals a day.

We set a record today for our lunch service of 33,000 meals out by 1 pm. The previous record was in Houston last year of 31,000 meals for lunch. We are sending the meals out to through the Salvation Army canteens (16-18 a day) and over 45 other organizations, civic groups and churches in a 5 county area around Wilmington. We will top 43,000 meals today which is very similar to what we did last year after Harvey but in a much larger community. Below are the meal totals:

Sunday and Monday while in Charlotte - 10,500
Started in Wilmington and Fayetteville
Tuesday - 16,600
Wednesday - 22,500
Closed down Fayetteville and all feeding out of Wilmington
Thursday - 28,650
Friday - 37,250
Saturday - 43,700
Total = 159,200

That brings our meal total since May of 2011 to 1,939,575 that means we are 60,425 meals from serving our 2 millionth meal. It took 5.5 years to serve our first million and 25 months to serve our second million.

Projection that we will hit 2 million meals most likely on Monday.
