I love all of the rubs. Have about 1/2 of each left. Did wings on Kettle/Vortex last night with the poultry rub, Best results for taste and crispy. I want to try the sauce. $8.95 very reasonable. $9.00 to ship not so much. Get the bundle at $44.95 and shipping is still $9.00. That is reasonable. I know it's not Meathead settings shipping. IMO a bit excessive for shipping to be more than a product like a jar of sauce.Last edited by RichieB; June 1, 2022, 12:33 PM.

Same. The red meat rub is a notch above. Pretty much perfect imo.

Our family is in love with the Red Meat rub. I've done a few side by sides with tri tips, prime ribs, and steaks, and each and every time Meathead's Red Meat wins out over the others I've tested, one being Big Bad Beef Rub. In all fairness to Henrik though, none of these tests were alongside his Hank's Signature, that stuff is wonderful as well!

I use the pork rub pretty frequently, and I’ve gone through two jars so far! I can’t use MSG, though, Mrs Mosca has a medical condition now that is aggravated by a long list of foods, including that one.

OK so I've been using @Meathead's rubs a lot lately. Since there's no MSG in them, I thought I'd like to just add some MSG to each bottle of rub and be done with it. The question is how much to add?
I searched in a lot of places and kept coming up with the rule of thumb that 1/2 tsp MSG per lb of meat would be a good amount of MSG. But that doesn't help me with knowing the amount of MSG to add to a bottle of Meathead's rubs.
So I grabbed Meathead's Pork rub and saw that he recommends 1 TBL of rub per lb of meat.
The rub weighs .375 oz per TBL.
With 10.8 oz in the jar, you can season 28.8 lbs of meat.
At 1/2 tsp MSG per pound of meat that means 14.4 tsp or 4.8 TBL MSG should be added to the jar of rub.
So, due to my conservative nature, I added 2 tsp MSG to the entire jar of Pork rub. That amount only scared me a little and has no scientific basis in fact.

Did a 12 ounce fillet of salmon with the POULTRY seasoning. Light sprinkle and massage on the flesh side about 30 minutes before cooking. Grilled flesh down over direct heat 5-6 minutes with the lid closed and never peeked. Gently nudged the fillet to loosen it without tearing the flesh. Flipped to skin down and cooked with the lid open another 3 or so minutes (Thermo Pen checking often). Wife declared it a success. She usually makes the rubs to her liking; she LOVED this on the salmon and put another fillet on her shopping list.

Update: Red Meat is excellent on thick charcoal & wood-grilled pork loin chops if you were wondering. I actually liked it better than the Pork rub.

MMD on beef is a bit sweet, but some folks go for that.
