I too like to mix my own and use salt separately as a dry brine. I also have a pantry full of seasoning from Meat Church and Killer Hogs I’m working through as well. Your price point is a bit steep versus the competition but I do realize you’re just starting this venture so hopefully the price will gravitate down. Interested to see what the other guys "honest" opinion is. Good luck MH.

It was Meathead who taught me the advantages of separating the salting process and the spicing process. I don't understand why these rubs have salt in them or there aren't salt-free versions available.

gilbertpilz , I think Meathead mentioned that it was a cost issue. Personally, I'd rather pay a higher price for a salt-free option.

BBQSpot.com is the manufacturer's site. They cannot undercut retailer prices or nobody would buy. As they get into wider distribution late this year, you will probably see lower prices in stores and websites.

Yesterday I ordered 2 each of the 3 new Meathead rubs by clicking on the picture of them on the right side of the screen on the AR site. $94.74 with shipping, no mention of any kind of discount coupon. After ordering off of the AR page, I get an add on my Face Book page from BBQspot.com offering a 20% discount for orders over $30 (coupon code August20). Just wondering why this offer isn't also on the AR site. I've emailed BBQspot.com and asked for the discount, but no response yet.

I think the discount was an error. Glad the backed it up!

Since I like a precise amount of salt and a ton of the other flavors this would be tough for me.

if I knew the amount of salt by weight per bottle that would help. Nothing frustrates me more than over salting something.

We find that on thick meats, like chuck roast, it needs a little extra salt first. Then use this as a dry brine. On a pork chop or steak this works by itself. (I know I know, this is hardly precise, but it works).

Congrats to Meathead for bringing this to market.
I think I will pick up the chicken, because I've made S&G a couple times and I just don't get it, so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks for that promo code, wrgilb . It more than paid for the shipping for the 3 bottles of rub that are on the way. Yay!

I like the labeling on the bottle a lot. No skulls and crossbones, no double entendre names, just the facts plain and simple. Plus it has a nice likeness of Meathead .

I'm disappointed to see that "amps them up with the addition of some new ingredients" means that you added MSG in the form of yeast extract. I'll have to stay away from these and use the original recipes if I want to avoid splitting migraines.

While it does contain glutamates, it's not the same as or as much as MSG

Experience tells me it has the same effect. https://www.truthinlabeling.org/names.html. I'm not trying to start a flame war. This is just how I decide what to eat.

I’m in. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against the home made versions. They will obviously be different.

I must be doing something wrong. I have to register at another site just to see the pricing and I have to buy it by the case?? Is this right? TIA

Mr. Bones Mine arrived yesterday and I was a complete heathen. Palm dumped all 3. After that we went to Costco and bought 2 bottles of whiskey we have never tried before and took a couple of shots in the parking lot.

Anyone have a review? I'm curious about it, but having a hard time pulling the trigger on $40+ for a few seasonings. Thanks.

I used the Red Meat Rub (Cow Crust) on a tri tip last evening and it was pretty good. There is some value in having it ready-made, but it's also not hard to make up a batch either. I haven't tried the other 2, but I'm sure they will be equally as good and I think it was a good purchase.
