I use those plastic tumblers that usually have logos on them. Bottom cut out and split down the side for small bags. They can flex and fit accordingly . The unsplit tumblers I use for liquids.

We do the same, great in the fall when we process our tomatoes into sauce. The liquid block bags work pretty good too, not perfect.

I use a paper plate folded, since I’m usually using that on a scale anyway, but I can see this working better in most cases.
