    WLAN Thermo

Has anyone had any experience with this? https://wlanthermo.de/

The prices are well matched with functionality. the only i can see is that it is not a water resistant case. You can use maverick probes etc..

This is an open source product so you can get the BOM and build yourself.

There is a newer versions coming out this month:

Here are a few more details about the models from their forum:

    Nano V3
Our compact BBQ thermometer. The Nano V3 will be the direct successor to the Nano V1 + PRO. Board outline and socket positions remain (largely) the same. In addition to the ESP32 upgrade, a larger OLED is also installed (from 0.96 "to 1.3"). In addition, the Pitmaster connection is split up and standardized. SSR and fan are still connected via the 3.5x1.3 mm power plug, the servo control gets its own Molex Mirco Fit connection. In addition, the Bluetooth interface (all ESP32 models have it) enables the connection of BT sensors such as the Meater. The release will probably take place in July. In terms of price, the Nano V3 is slightly above the V1 + PRO due to the increased number of components. If you want to dare to build yourself,

    Mini V3
Our all-rounders. In the mini successor model, the changes to the previous models Mini V1 and V2 are significantly more massive. In addition to the size (from 105x105 down to 87x87 mm), the type of connections also changes. Here we build on the experience of nano construction and make better use of the possibilities of the ESP compared to the Raspberry Pi. This enables a significantly more compact design, while at the same time eliminating the time-consuming cabling and installation of all sockets. All components are soldered or plugged in. The NTC sensor connections are reduced from 8 to 6, but with the same 8 NTC measuring channels. As with the Nano, two of the six sockets will be able to read double sensors. Four channels can also be converted to read out PT1000 sensors. A type K connection is permanently installed as standard, as is a pit master. The Pitmaster connections are identical to the Nano V3. Some may have already recognized it in the photos, the Mini V3 has an on / off switch and thus also the possibility for battery operation (measurement mode only). The heart of the mini V1 and V2 is the ESP32 upgrade board (but with a different pin header). The previously used Nextion TFT will be replaced by an in-house construction (still with a touch) that fits better with the overall concept. The Mini V3 will not completely replace the Mini V2 due to the small number of Pitmaster and Type K connections, but it is more affordable in terms of price (towards half the price of the Mini V2). Like the Mini V2 board, the mini carrier board is again largely based on SMD components, however in a larger design. This also enables beginners to build their own PCB. Due to the major changes, the official release will not take place before August, and it may not come until September.

    Link V1
The Link board is a completely new development that lives up to its name. With Link you can turn your old Bluetooth thermometer into a WLANThermo in no time at all, with all its advantages in terms of operating concept and reception. The centerpiece here is the ESP32 upgrade board. Thanks to the integrated BT interface, BT-Thermos from Inkbird and Grilleye (all devices with the iBBQ protocol) and Meater can be coupled. Other devices such as iGrill and Meatstick are expected to follow. The data of the BT-Thermos are transmitted to the link via Bluetooth and this provides the well-known WLANThermo web interface within your network, as well as the cloud and API function. Such compatibility with BBQ thermos from various manufacturers is unique. Power is supplied via a 5V power supply or a power bank, each with a USB-C connection. The installation location can be directly on the grill or in the vicinity. Constant reception problems with the BT-Thermo are history - the transmission into the WLAN extends the range of the BT-Thermos drastically. In addition to the Bluetooth WiFi bridge function, the Link can also be used as a simple grill thermometer with 3 measuring channels (2 connection sockets). The applications are really diverse. In addition, because of the relatively small number of components, Link is very attractively priced and will probably replace our previous Nano V1 + LITE. A release is planned for July. None here. I use a Smobot or PartyQ.

It looks like the probe connections are on the bottom, so there's no way to stand it up with the display properly orientated. That's a big problem for me as I would not be able to see the display from inside the house. Otherwise ti's very interesting...

        Looks cool.

I tend to do better DIY projects that involve JB Weld and bailing wire.

DIY electronics are a bit beyond me. But if you can make it work, the functionality looks to. Be there
