I've just finished my second brisket cook using the new Smobot. It's an amazing tool! The first cook was a dead calm day. The Smobot held within 2 degrees of my target temp the whole way. The second cook was a gusty day with wind speeds ranging from 10 to 30 mph. It was within 5 degrees of the target temp the whole cook. My KJ can be pain to keep within 20 degrees when the wind is gusting at different speeds. Yes I can turn out a good brisket without it, but this is like having an automatic transmission in heavy traffic. It just makes things better. I don't know if I'm getting smarter or lazier, either way I'm good with it.

Oak Smoke thanks for your post. I live in Dallas and the gusty winds are chronic. The Smobot has stoked my MCS in the past, but I think your post may have pushed me over the hump.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Maverick 732, DigiQ, and too much other stuff to mention.
If I didn't already have a DigiQ, I'd get a Smobot. But I have other things I could do with the money.
Smobot has one huge advantage: everything happens at eye-level. No bending down to install a fan adapter on a vent where everything is gunked up, no tapping a lower fan vent to get the right amount of "choke".Last edited by Mosca; April 6, 2019, 08:51 AM.
