So the wife just called from the local Kroger and said they have a "chefman RJ9-WiFi" sous vide cooker on sale, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this brand or model?

> Weber Genesis EP-330
> Grilla Grills Original Grilla (OG) pellet smoker with Alpha/Connect
> Pit Barrel Cooker (gone to a new home)
> WeberQ 2000 (on "loan" to a relative (I'll never see it again))
> Old Smokey Electric (for chickens mostly - when it's too nasty out
to fiddle with a more capable cooker)
> Luhr Jensen Little Chief Electric - Top Loader circa 1990 (smoked fish & jerky)
> Thermoworks Smoke
> 3 Thermoworks Chef Alarms
> Thermoworks Thermapen One
> Thermoworks Thermapen Classic
> Thermoworks Thermopop
> Thermoworks IR-GUN-S
> Anova sous vide circulator
> Searzall torch
> BBQ Guru Rib Ring
> WÜSTHOF, Dalstrong, and Buck knives
> Paprika App on Mac and iOS
I've got no personal experience with Chefman ... but it sure looks like an Anova knockoff. Here it is on Amazon:

Grill: Grilla Original / Weber Genesis EP-330 / OK Joe Bronco Drum
Thermometers: Thermapen / iGrill 2 / Fireboard
For Smoke: Chunks / Pellet Tube / Mo Pouch
Sous Vide: Joule / Nomiku WiFi (RIP Nomiku)
Disqus: Le Chef - (something something something) - it changes
Not a few really bad reviews on Amazon. Likely another Chinese company that took tech from the various American companies that made the mistake of having Chinese factories make their gear.

I am with PKB. Plus, these things tend to have atrocious customer service. As is noted in a few of the reviews.

I bought one (no wi-fi) for $49 last year from one of those deal-a-day sites. It works well, and fortunately I've had no need to deal with customer service. I figured that even if it worked at all for a while, it would be a decent way to figure out if even wanted to do sous vide at all. So far so good.

Current line-up of cookers: Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Pro, Masterbuilt Gravity Series 1050, Blackstone ProSeries 4 Burner 36" griddle, Weber Performer Deluxe and Weber Smokey Joe.
I'm not saying this device is good or bad, but I found an app awhile back that is supposed to analyze the reviews to determine if they are legit.

I bought a cheap Sous Vide device from Amazon a couple of years ago. Since it has been discontinued after many bad reviews ( Forsous brand ). Mine works great and allowed me to see if it was worth it....Yes it is, got a Sous vide pastrami going now.
You might check the accuracy with a thermometer to see if its within range.
Good luck, I think your going to love it.
