i ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H8WTFHW...=lv_ov_lig_dp_) i have been losing my themo pro 20 ambient and meat probes way to much this year. i have noticed that the new ambient replacements have a straight probe insert to the controller instead of the 90 degrees one. i have been looking at the ( https://www.thermoworks.com/smoke-op...niSet-30off-cs ) also.

I have not used the Meater, but I know they had a few issues when they first started. (Bill McGrath, our thermometer guru, had a few things to say on the issue here.)

The Thermoworks Smoke is a tried and true thermometer set up. They are professional grade and they stand behind their products.

Another set up to look at is the FrieBoard. That is what I and a lot of others use.

My DOT and Chef Alarm both have the straight ambient probes. Still going strong 4and 5 years old.

The Meater took its sweet time coming out and lost some of its luster here. But I'll let them tell you.

@Hawker you have not replaced your original probes for 4or 5 years?

Yup. Still have all the originals with the exception of one meat probe.

I've had a Smoke since 2017 and still use original probes. I'm not a heavy user, but I've since bought a spare of each anyway just in case.

I do love this idea. I hate all the wires associated with having multiple probes in play. Having a reliable, wireless probe would be awesome. It is a great idea and one that I hope other companies adopt. It would make things so much easier.

I guess I’m surprised Thermoworks hasn’t made that a priority?? They sell a lot of those wired probes when they need to be replaced...might have something to do with it.

I would assume they are working on coming up with something like this. It would be great. MTurney

My Meater+ has been retired to my roll-top desk. It's career was short-lived due to troublesome and frustrating connection difficulties each time I tried to sync it up with my iPhone. I did get it to work a few times but found that it needed to be synced with an old iPhone that was placed close o the Weber Kettle. That phone then could relay the data to my regular iPhone via my home wifi. If I didn't set it up this way the signal strength was too weak to transmit dat inside the house. After a few tries I retired it and got a FireBoard setup that has never had any connection problems with my wifi and reliably transmits data to where ever I might be,

There is a new game in town that looks like it comes in about the same price?
A lot of if you and what ifs and pay attention to the policy but might be worth a try.
HEY--it is recommended by the NATIONAL BBQ AND GRILLING ASSOCIATION and with an endorsement like that how can you go wrong?
Monitor meat temperature on your phone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi with The MeatStick smart wireless meat thermometer. Ideal for BBQ, smoking, grilling, and deep frying. Dishwasher safe with long battery life!

The name of the thing is kind of reminiscent of a '70's porn movie.

This popped onto my Facebook 2 minutes after I looked at that thermometer.
Though I would add it here just in case.

Don't be SCARED. Whats the worst that can happen?

I tried and returned a MEATER+. Little while back. My Thermoworks Smoke is still working well after several years, but is showing its age with a broken stand, loose connections, etc. — would love to, have a wireless setup for rotisserie cooks.

Tappecue also makes a wireless probe. I haven’t used it much, but I had zero problems with it in the initial testing/playing that I did.

I haven’t gone back to it because I don’t do change well. I’m used to the wires. I’ll stay with the wires.

I like my Tappecue thermometer. Temp probes, fan and fan controller. Wifi. Up to 8 probes, I think.

Tappecue was awesome the one time (that comes to mind) that I needed customer support. I had a temp probe that went bad. They looked up the initial order and had a new one on the way, quick and easy.

I haven’t used any other brands so I can’t make comparisons.

Did not know that many of these are on the market. seems to me (maybe just me) they all look the same. could they be made by the same company? the only reason i am looking at these is because i have lost 3 probes in the last month. 2 ambient temp. one for my PBC and one for the vision, and the other one was a meat temp. probe.
