    Cheap Thermo pick up

Spotted these thermo's hanging hidden high up on the peg board and they were marked down. The price displayed was R89.00 ($6). I thought at that price I'll put one in my trolley. When I paid for the item it rang up at R69.00 ($4.50).
Did the accuracy test (99C -210F) and it was as close as can be to boiling point without having a decimal point.
I used it during the week and it held its side. I did check it's accuracy before each use and it was within 1C of my XR50 when probed nearby.
They are cheaply built and who knows how long they will last. I picked up the other two that were left yesterday. Might have something to do with the urge to spend on anything BBQ related, irrespective.

For that price how could you go wrong? Nice find.

If it saves one pice of meat from destruction (non serviceable) you are likely in the black. For every piece of meat it saves, your average cost per cook is lower.

9 cooks and you are at .50 a cook. One large piece of meat should cover that margin.

      nice score!

That's the way I think with the toffee's I sell from the wagon. Every toffee sold covers the cost of 1 sheet of paper towel. Keeps me sane😊

If it gets lost, or stepped on or even given away to an aspiring cook, no big deal!

My thoughts were to give away to a deserving person who is prepared to accept how important using a thermometer is. Very few of those around listening to my podium preach.

I hear ya loud and clear!
I forgot my kit when we went to Savannah last year. Basically live out of hotels for a month or so. Use hotel grills, and friends weber. Left him a cheap Maverick I bought. He is a changed man. Wife bought him a red kettle!
