I am expecting my iGrill2 to be delivered tomorrow, so hopefully I can report back after this weekend. Unfortunately the first chance I will have to use it will be Sunday.

I have a Maverick 733 now and looking to buy a second unit so I can monitor two pits. I was going to go with a second 733 ( I like mine, in my 3rd yr with probes).
I'm kind of thinking giving the IGrill 2 a short for my 2nd. Thoughts please

My pleasure DWCowles. Man, you buy thermometers like my wife buys shoes. I guess there are worse addictions out there, so keep up the good work with stimulating the economy.

If you have a device you can dedicate to the igrill while you are cooking, you'll probably like it. The bluetooth was not sufficient for me to walk to the basement without me losing connection on my iPhone. I couldn't really go very far anywhere in my house without losing my connection. I use my phone all the time, so this was not an option for me, so I returned mine. Amazon return policy rocks!

Ive seen several variables between the Maverick and my DOT and Thermopen. Has me questioning Maverick tech for sure

CeramicChef, I did calibrate at both temperatures. In fact, the Maverick was even worse at cooker temps. I just recently did that calibration, and I need to consult my notes on exact differences. But it seems to me that if the temp is off at one point, it will be consistently off at least that much. And for Thermoworks at least, that is how they recommend calibrating, in an ice bath, at 32 degrees.

I think I'd be calibrating at 212° rather than 32°. You'll want to calibrate closer to the temps you'll be cooking at rather than a temp that is of no use in your cooker.

There was a huge difference between the Maverick and the iGrill readings and I have more confidence in the Maverick.
JohnF, I found that in side by side comparison with my thermoworks products, all my Maverick probes were approximately 7 degrees high in their readings. I tested my Dot, my Thermapen, my Chefalarm, and my RT600C. they all read 32 degrees in my ice bath, and the Maverick read 39 degrees. So for myself, I don't know how confident I am in the Maverick. One of the Maverick probes was brand new out of the package too!

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

the good one grill
The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Griddle And Deep Fryer In One

Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.
