Since my original comment, the project keeps expanding on what the inventors are putting into the product. As of now money has been raised for programming for cook tracking, cloud-based alerts, with customized wood on the blocks for the starter backers. The last update I saw was they got $750,000 in backing so far to give a special gift to their backers, and shooting for a million on their next backer level to cut a hole in frozen lake to jump naked into the hole!
So, either it's "you snooze, you lose," and hope we're on the winning side of the next best thing for meat temps.... or we'll take our lumps on future posters that say "you bought that?"
You have to have a smart phone. And as far as the thickness of the probe - it looks about twice the thickness of traditional probes but I can't think of anything I cook that requires a thin probe and a thin piece of meat is difficult at best to put a probe in without it being to close to the surface anyway IMO. I am lucky on steaks and burgers as I can't make mine rare enough and can't cook the wife's too long. Just boil some water and stick your thermo probe in to see what it reads at boiling...
I bought in - "pledged" for the block with 2 probes since I wanted wi-fi.....if this works as advertised then it will be tremendous, especially the cloud app - I'm often at my fry-cook job when I am smoking something at home. The ambient temperature feature will be great also. We'll see.

last day for this, I also got the 4 piece set. Was looking to get iGrill2 lately since I havent been happy with my Mavericks, but going with Meater instead.
Just pledged for the 4 prob set. Got the Carson rotisserie off the Kick start from a while back. Have not opened it as yet because I have been working on my outdoor kitchen. Between weather, suppliers, and subcontractors it is taking much longer to do. Will post when it is finished and have opened the new toys.

I just pledged one and got my Carson too. Still need to play with it... have had no time. I just backed the carson for a new basket.
It sounds like the sensitive parts of the probes are buried within the meat so the highest temps they'll experience should be around 203? There's a safe mark on the probe. I'm assuming you have to at least insert the probe that deep or risk exposing the sensitive parts of the probe to more extreme temps.
Even the last one at 325.000 was reached, but they seem reluctant to create new goals. Having already covered even Smart Watches, I guess we can't fault them for not coming up with ever more complicated solutions. I kind of loke the attitude.
