    Thermometer porn........

As long as I can remember I've been enthralled with "what makes things click?" So a promo email from Thermoworks today falls right in my wheelhouse. Smoke Remote BBQ Alarm Thermometer | ThermoWorks I mean, a clear, see through case on a tool so you can see the guts? Being electronic there won't be any whirring gears, or articulating linkage, but still............... Now, I've already got a drawer full of temp measuring thingies, including a Purple cased Smoke, so I likely won't allow my inner gizmoholic the indulgence of another thermometer. But if I can help one of ya'll spend your money on one of these my job is done.

Yea just what I need, another thermometer. Got a draw full. Printed circuit boards don't exactly get me excited. Think I'll just stick with regular old porn instead

Yeah, imagine what a hit it would be if they figured out how to make the circuit tracks spark along their length while working. Pyrotechnics sell!!!

    Meat porn.

My wife walks in to catch me looking at BBQ pics, and always says, "See! Caught you looking at porn again."

Of course, my computer monitor is a 50" 4k TV, so the meat porn looks AWESOME!

I got the same email, Uncle Bob . If I didn't already own a Smoke, I would have been all over the clear one.

Here you go Uncle Bob. You want circuit board pyrotechnics? How about Star Trek and the exploding consoles that somehow miraculously continue to function!! Same with Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (remember David Hedison?)!! That was the electronic futuristic pyrotechnics of the 1960s !!!

Haha pretty funny. I never thought about that before, and I've seen every Star Trek there is more than once.

Apparently in the Star Trek universe, they can route the received weapons charge from enemy fire into a circuit that blasts sparks out into the face of the weapon officer that is on duty. The sacrificial weapons officer takes the damage intended for the ship. It is most effective if they are wearing a red shirt too I think.

I love it! Want. When I was a bachelor I bought a Nintendo 64 (hey it was new and exciting then, heck I still enjoy it now) and I bought a clear controller for it. Love that kinda thing.

I took my first ever Christmas bonus check back in 1983(?) and bought a Coleco Adam. In retrospect, not a wise choice. I eventually moved on to an XT (8088) clone with 2 floppy drives (5.25") and a 10 megabyte hard drive. Woohoo!

Dewesq55 I had a Coleco ("Colecovision", more properly) video game as a young kid. I heard the Adam was a huge flop.

Huskee - Indeed it was. The tape drive they developed in place of floppy drives never really worked properly. It was nearly impossible to write software for it.

This totally reminds me of those clear-see-through phones we all had in the 80s. (Yall.....did have....one....right......please?)

I did like the packaging, then I looked outside at my dead Fireboard that I left out yesterday that’s now been through 2 thunderstorms and works just fine. I decided no view and a very small screen with a great app is still the way to go.
